Required a 20 point developmental agenda for India

1. Eradication of corruption –

  • Implementation of a proper Lokpal Bill (citizens charter) including judiciary, executive and legislature with independent functioning
  • All policies and procedures should be properly designed, laid out and known to public through internet and other means so that there is no confusion and chance of unscrupulous elements taking advantage
  • Periodic checks on personnel, accountability, safeguard of whistleblowers and complainants and a fast track judicial process

 2. Inflation control –

  • Supply side should be adequately taken care of ensuring adequate availability of food and agricultural produce, proper storage facility, no hoarding
  • Demand side adequately taken care of to ensure optimal liquidity and money supply in market with optimum interest rate levels
  • Strengthening the supply chain mechanism of all other essential amenities which causes rise in inflation

 3. Population control, eradication of Child malnourishment and labour –

  • A large section of children in the country are malnourished and die before they complete one year of their lives. It has to be made compulsory for citizens to register the birth of children to the local governing bodies and periodic visits to the healthcare centre to monitor their health
  • No children below 18 years of age should be employed in any work both government and private; employers doing so should be severely punished
  • Citizens should be discouraged to have more than one child and should be penalized if they have more than one child with stoppage of all government benefits and cash penalty

 4. Healthcare –

  • Basic healthcare should be freely available to all people in India through properly management healthcare centres in all villages, towns and cities
  • Advanced healthcare should be available at subsidized costs to poor people depending upon their earnings and affordability
  • Quality of instruments and medical fraternity in healthcare needs a major boost from the government since we are seeing major corruption in government hospitals as government doctors are busy attending private clinics and fleecing public by unscrupulous means

 5. Food, Shelter and clothing –

  • India should be food sufficient, all citizens should have a shelter to live and proper clothing to take care of themselves
  • State should ensure that there is no wastage of food, no corruption of slum rehabilitation efforts and no person should die in the country due to insufficient clothing and safeguard against nature’s fury
  • Sufficient shelter homes for the poor should be built and properly managed for the poor who cannot afford a shelter above their head with help from the private sector

 6. Education –

  • State sponsored primary, secondary and higher education needs to be spruced up which is in dire straits now. Private public partnership can be used optimally in ensuring that every village has a school, every block has colleges and every district has universities
  • Abolition of all quota system in education. Weaker section of people should be provided all kinds of assistance required including special training sessions but ultimately selection in all places should be based purely on merit
  • As far as practicable, all education should be focused on practical aspects of life rather than being merely theoretical in nature

 7. Agriculture –

  • Strive to bring third generation of agricultural reforms in the country with the emphasis on leveraging technology for more production
  • Bringing large arid regions under the ambit of agriculture by introduction of modern irrigation, technologically advanced tilling, sowing, nurturing, harvesting and marketing facilities and promoting the formation of co-operative farming societies who would use common infrastructure to reduce production cost
  • Tapping the vast natural resources of the country to channel better irrigation facilities for the country by embarking upon ambitious projects like connection of water bodies in the country

8. Industry –

  • Third generation of industrial revolution is the need of the hour as India requires massive overhaul of technology and embrace modernization to produce for local as well as international consumption. Emphasis needs to be made towards agri-based industries as well
  • Another focus of industry should be towards heavy engineering keeping in mind the massive infrastructural development required in the country including manufacture of heavy machinery for power plants, building of ports, bridges, planes and ship building, etc.
  • A growing requirement of building niche and research intensive industries like pharmacy & healthcare and hi-tech industries like robotics and industrial automation is the need of the hour considering the massive difference between demand and supply in our country

 9. Employment –

  • Unemployment has reached alarming levels in the country and much needs to be done to generate more employment among the people particularly the youth in both rural and urban areas since they are the backbone of the society in years to come.
  • Employment in the unorganized sectors can be reinforced by introduction of more vocational training in the agricultural sector, renewable energy sector and streamlining the way the different development programs of the government are being managed
  • Employment in the organized sectors can be reinforced by creating an environment where industries can flourish by simplifying the rules thereby attracting more foreign direct investments as well by the introduction of a level playing field

  • Communication is essential for growth of a country and efforts need to be made to provide the people with cent per cent connectivity at affordable rates. The entire country should be connected by roads, railway, waterways and airports which would help a long way in the upliftment of the society

 12. Entrepreneurship –

  • The success of a country depends upon how a country supports entrepreneurship and India is lagging behind a lot in this field. We should be able to encourage entrepreneurship in future
  • A proper ecosystem needs to be developed in encouraging entrepreneurship by simplifying rules and regulations and providing a single window clearance from all departments
  • We need to encourage both domestic and international entrepreneurs in setting up shops in India by providing a one point contact or relationship managers from Government's side

 13. Automation –

  • Automation is key for development and we should use all our resources in order to promote latest cutting edge technology in automation in all sectors
  • Automation should be encouraged in agricultural and food processing industries to meet the growing demand for more food to feed the nearly one and half billion population of India
  • Heavy engineering industries and industries focusing on the social sector needs to be automated as well in order to be able to cater to a wide range of population

 14. National Security –

  • National security is of paramount importance to the sovereignty of the nation and should not be compromised at any
  • The entire defense forces including the military, navy and air force needs to be modernized in order to combat any intruder from outside and able to safeguard our borders
  • Entire border with all neighboring countries need to be sealed in order to prevent any illegal immigration which is adding to our worries by unnecessarily increasing our population

 15. Empowerment –

  •  Empowerment of the people is key to the better functioning of any democracy and thus the people of the country need to be empowered by providing enough resources to safeguard their own existence and fight for their fundamental rights and directive principles
  • Right from the grass root levels from every village, block, district, state and the country, people should be made aware of their rights and a proper mechanism to redress their grievances in case their rights are infringed upon
  • Formation of large number of self help groups for various specific purposes is the need of the hour which can take care of their own requirements and represent to the higher authorities in a collective manner just in case it is required

 16. Upliftment of backward classes –

  • The backward classes have been neglected since ages in India and now is the time for a proper redemption for them by bringing them to the mainstream and avoid extremist formation
  • The nation doesn't require any policy for reservation. What the country requires is providing the under privileged an equal opportunity to compete with the privileged ones. All efforts needs to be made to provide them quality healthcare and education so that they can take care of themselves
  • Proper development facilities needs to be provided to remote interiors of the country which has largely been neglected like Kalahandi, Bastar, Gadhchiroli, etc.

 17. Environment protection –

  • Large scale degradation of the environment is being carried out in the name of development or for pure commercial purpose. This needs to stop immediately.
  • A strict environment policy needs to be made, implemented and managed so as not to further damage the environment since natural resources are scarce and we need to make all efforts to protect them
  • All illegal sand mining, quarrying, metal mining, marshy land reclamation etc. should stop immediately and the law breakers dealt with strictly and heavily

 18. Foreign Policy –

  • India should strengthen its foreign policy a great deal and should have cordial relation with all countries of the world without compromising on its sovereignty and security so as to benefit trade and commerce relationship with other countries
  • India should have good relationship with all nations so that as far as practicable people should be able to visit other countries without stringent visa restrictions and vice versa
  • India should play a leading role in the sub-continent with a more assertive and progressive role in the region so that it can garner support from all neighboring countries and others in the region

  • Inclusive growth is a must for a health nation and all its population needs to brought to the mainstream by taking financial literacy to their doorsteps in the form of banking and services

 20. Focus on GDP Growth -

  • Nothing less than a double digit growth rate would do for the country since it has to progress with the highest population density in the world
  • If the country's GDP growth is healthy it can combat temporary phases of high inflation adequately so that wealth of the country doesn't get eroded so easily
  • Efforts need to made to mobilize all the resources available in the country to boost growth including agricultural production and industrial production for a better HDI
